This evening I turned on one of my MySky boxes like I do everyday and it's started making a funny noise, like the HDD spinning at high speed or the fan spinning at high speed. Anyway, when I go to record of play a recorded program, it says:

"System fault,

Recording and playback functions are unavailable

Please contact your service provider"

Anything I should try and do before I call Sky?

I tried rebooting the box but there was no change. :(

EDIT: also, when I turned it on the first time and went to Planner, it was lagging like crazy.

Tried rebooting it again, this time it was working, I managed to play 6-7 seconds of a recording, it then rebooted itself/crashed but this time it the HDD was making a 'tick-tick-tick' noise.

I don't think that there is anything useful you can do other than call SKY. Although you could go to the installer menu and reformat the HDD, it's much more likely that the HDD is stuffed than just corrupt, so I don't think you would gain anything.

Plus by the sounds of it, you've also lost all of your previous recordings.

Same happened to me...sky just replaced the box and i lost my recordings.

although, mine died slowly, progressively getting worse. At first, a few programs did not record (failed recording). Sometimes watching a recorded tv it would just jump to a different place, then, sometimes I'd need to reset the box. Then , it stopped working completely and displayed the call a tech error.
