Just updated (auto update) my Panasonic TH-L50E6Z software to version 4.735 and noticed it now includes a Netflix App. My Panasonic PVR DMR-BWT835 software version 1.36 however does not include Netflix or for that matter many App's at all.

Now I am presuming this is in preparation for the Netflix Kiwi/Aussie launch in March. In the mean time I am also presuming you have to still set-up an Unblock service to get Netflix on my Panny?

Cheers
(In the mean time I am still waiting for that miracle Apple TV to come along laughing)

Try a trial of Unotelly/UnblockUS or Getflix, then sign up for the trial of Netflix and see how it goes.

Be pretty cool if it works (for those that own Panasonic Smart TVs anyway).

Oh good luck with that, I think you may have to build in micro second delays. Let us all know how you get on and what you did pls.

Happy New Year smile

That's at least a month away... need to move back into my home after repairs, and be re-united with my VPN hardwired router.

Fantastic.

We're starting to get away from the Samsung lock-in that's not caused so much by the content providers not wanting to get their hands dirty but television vendors unwilling to do commercial deals.

For everyone else, there is Roku / Apple TV / Chromecast :)

Not Netflix related, but I have to say I am loving the media player in my 60AS700.  It does that obvious thing of maintaining a folder hierarchy so you can load up a pocket drive and still find stuff easily.  I've not had that pleasure with previous media players.  I did have to reformat my USB3 pocket drive because it was actually showing deleted items in the recycle bin!  What the heck!?

Interestingly, the new Pana's will even play 24/192 FLAC files... many others don't.

Never mind have found out that this is the latest version , I guess a mid 2012 TV is to far out of date for the updates.

My TV isn't connected to the internet, so the Netflix thing is of no value.  I do hope they've updated the general OS.  It's clunky with littered the occasional piece of poor English.  The wireless networking support is terrible.  To even know if you are connected, you need to go to some "Network Status" menu, and then it churns away for several minutes.  But at least it reconnects simply that way.  If you go to "Network Setup" and do a quick connect, then you're in for a five minute wait for it to connect.

I use tethered internet, so set up a wireless access point on my computer.  Then stream media from the computer over DLNA.  Much much less bother than using a USB stick.  It'd be simpler if the tethered connection on the cell phone acted like a router, but then I'd have no way to prevent the TV from sucking up data.  But then every device these days plays media from USB, from the Panasonic TV, to my LG blu-ray player, to my knock-off satellite receiver.

The Samsung OS is much more polished, and less sloppy.

rmt38 - how old is your TV?
The interface of the TV itself is fine, however the Smart app interface is dated. Then again, so is the Samsung system (except for the automatic input selection), LG's is beyond poor (Web OS) and Sony's is about the same as Panasonic IMHO.

Hmm, just updated my ST60 to 4.735 but I'm not seeing a Netflix app anywhere (looking through all the market place)  Any tricks to get it to show up?

It might already be on your TV on the second page of your App's. After I installed the software update there was a red dot with a white 3 in it over the Sony Viera Market Place. On selection of this it showed in the far left column what media types had new App's ready to install, again with the red dot and a white figure in it. On installation of these new App's they all ended up on the second page of my TV App's.

You could always do a hard or cold reboot of the TV by switching off at the wall, waiting a few minutes and restarting it all.

Hope this helps.

xx50 Series (early-mid 2013 models) appear to be not have it at this point.
