I've tried Google, but AFAICT there is no TVNZ On Demand app for Panasonic Smart TVs. I can get to the On Demand programs via the Browse Internet app, but selecting a program to play leaves me with a blank black screen. Anyone found a workaround?

The TV is a 60AS700

So far its a samsung exclusive partnership. And the stream format/flash they use appears to not like non PC or android based devices much

At the moment the only workaround for us Panasonic (or any brand other than Samsung) TV owners, if you want the actual TVNZ On Demand app on your TV, is to buy yourself a supported Samsung TV. :-(

As much as they may be a nice TV (not checked lately), I'm not buying a new TV just to gain that feature.

I've connected an old laptop to our TV, and don't bother with any apps at all. One day I might upgrade it to a NUC, BRIX or perhaps some android box, but it will do for now.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Samsung appear to have cornered the market on the online telly market in NZ.

I'm frankly amazed at the exclusive deals they have - TVNZ On Demand and Premierleaguepass are two that I would very much like on my Sony, but it ain't gonna happen any time soon.

There's also no ability to Airplay from the iOS app (TVNZ OD), so that's a non-starter too.

The cheapest way to get it is to buy a Samsung Smart Bluray player. I think the BD-H5500 does it, and is around for under $140.
You also get TV3 on demand, Quickflix, Lightbox and Netflix when it comes to NZ. Oh, and it plays Blurays too :).

Does the 5500 series Blu-Ray player work? I thought it was only available on the 6500?
I think the demand for TVNZ and TV3 OnDemand will dwindle once NetFlix launches officially in NZ.

I have the 6500 and it has a really annoying thing where the menus operate in 1080p 50, and it will sometimes change to 1080p 60 for video playback. This means when you hit play on a youtube video, you miss the first 4-5 seconds while the amp and tv soft themselves out at 60Hz (or 24 if the video is) and then when you stop it and the menus reappear, it does it again and you have a delay till you can see what you are choosing.

Same problem with new lg smart tv . No adobe flash support, so no nz ondemand playback .Hopefully in the future tvnz and mediaworks will move on from flash to html5 as most web browsers including ones on smart tv's support it .
