So I bought a Freeview box from dse, yeah I know its not the best but im a cheap ass. Problem is I cant pick up a signal and I think the problem may be in the way my house has the tv wiring done.

Basically we have the normal antenna and sky dish all in one cable apparently(as told by sky installer), I don't know if it is just to the outlet by the sky box or all the ones in the house but I have the freeview one plugged into another wall plug in the house and I cannot pick up any signal from it. So my guess is that the dish is only wired into the socket by the sky dish but I wanted to make sure im not missing something

You're not in a TCL Cable area are you?  The outlets look the same.  I had the same thing here when I moved in (Sky Sockets and TCL Cable).

Cheers,

So if you unscrew the cable from the back of Sky Digital decoder and connect it to your Freeview box it works?

Nope it should just be plug and play.

If that's the case, go to somewhere like DSE or Mastertrade. Buy 2m (or maybe a little more) of coaxial cable, a satellite splitter, and 4 satellite cable ends. Make the cabling up and you can run both at once. Think that'll set you back about $20-30 at a guess

Making the cables is really easy, just use some wire strippers and follow the instructions.

the point of getting freeview was to get better channels in another room that doesn't have sky.

Only a minor rewire job. You need to find the diplexer that combines the VHF/UHF/L band (satellite). If it is located after the terrestrial splitter then you need to rewire so that the signals are combined before the splitter and replace the splitter with a satellite grade one.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
