Hello. I've just bought a Roku 3 from amazon and the american ac-adapter that follows only support voltage input up to 110v. I live in Europe and our outputs are 230v so i don't want to risk it by just connecting it with one of those traveling pin-converters, so now im wondering if i should.

A, try to get a Roku 3 Uk-adapter and then pin-covert it to EU-standard? (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Streaming-player-replacement-supply-adaptor/dp/B00EW44Z4C)

B, use a 230>110 voltage transform-adapter?

C, just buy a ac-adapter from a local shop that fits the Roku 3 and with similar power support?

If C, will a 100-240v adapter with 12v 3A do the trick or could that damage the device?

Just go for C, buy an adapter that fits with the same voltage and at least 1 amp. 3 amps will be fine but if you can find a lower current model it would normally be cheaper.

Make sure you have the right polarity before you plug it in.

I am using my Roku 3 here in NZ on 230v using a locally purchased adapter.

Thanks, great reply that i have been trying to get from Roku support all day with no success.
Just to make sure, with right polarity your talking about ac/dc right? The one i got from Roku is an ac-adapter (i think, will have to doublecheck that later).

I did a lot of googling to find the answer but in the end I just measured the plug and found the correct plug that way.

No, polarity is the way the DC power is connected to the output plug. On my Roku 3 the diagram on the bottom shows "Centre positive", meaning the positive DC feed comes through the centre of the plug and the negative comes through the outside of the plug.

If you get this wrong and the Roku is not designed to protect against this then you can destroy your Roku. If it is designed properly then it will short out your power supply and everything will shut down with no damage.

okeeej, good thing i asked then :) I'm not sure how to read it but it looks like this (-)---(•---(+) does that mean it's center positive?

With my Roku 3 I took the US power cable into Jaycar Electronics and told them to give me the NZ equivalent, which they did.
