In the last 2 weeks channels 3 & 4 have started getting a real bad audio stutter and fast moving video "shudders" and "ghosts", but all other channels (except Stratos) are fine. Any ideas? I am using a SATAII HDD, but i thought that this would affect all channels evenly, and shouldn't have only just started after 4 months.
I haven't updated drivers for sound or GPU, but I have updated the bios about a week before it started playing up.
I am running XP MCE 2005 with all updates (done in the background automatically)
Any suggestions?
Has my dish possibly moved in the high winds lately?

FreeView did change some of the PCR PIDS, this controls the sync between Vpids and Apids, your best bet is to delete all channels and do a rescan so the new PCR pids are picked up. Beyond that I cannot be of much assistance, but the above would be my first suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion Cyril. Tried it, but made no difference. Is there any inexpensive way to check that my dish & LNB are still aligned/rotated correctly, or is this unlikely the problem?

Assuming your Quality indicator is good, and the BER and C/N is good then that is unlikely to be an issue. I have no problems here or with the dozens of FTA STBs' I ve worked with in the past few days. There definitly was an issue with the PCR PID changes, this related more to the 12483 mux, but once rescanned things went back to normal.

Not knowing a lot about PC based Satellite systems, but dealing with Windows on a daily basis I would defintely be looking at your PC.

Thanks cyril. WINTV app says signal strength about 90%, same as always. I did notice however that PureVideo decoder had uninstalled when I was fiddling about with drivers, so I've reinstalled that and things are ok at the moment. However, that has alway been the problem - sometimes it's fine, others its mild, at times, unwatchable.
Also, I think my graphics card might be dodgy as i always get a bluescreen when something tries to run in DX9 (have been trying to sort this for ages and have tested and tried everything and left with only the card itself - am waiting to hear back from the vendor)
I'll keep you posted.

Ahhh critical apps like this should be run on DOS or C/PM, this way if they crash there is only your app to blame.

[prepares flame suite/]  :)

joking really.
