Got a Phillips 42in LCD TV thats about 6 years old.

In the last 2 weeks the bass side of the sound has started to distort really badly, to the point you can hardly make out what people are saying.

Any ideas if its would be a hard/expensive fix as it will cost $80 to diagnose alone.
