Well, not really the sly since it's free anyway. I was wondering though, is there a way to receive freeview channels without the box?

Thanks to the previous residents of this fine household we have a sky dish. I also have a tv tuner PCI card, no morals and a huge sense of self-entitlement which I figured could somehow combine to bridge the hardware gap.

Do I have a hope in hell?

lol there is no 'sly' about it. To get freeview you need a DVB-S tuner - either in a freeview stb (cheap ones on Trademe from about $130) or get an $80 PCI DVB-S card.

I've seen people recommending the Hasslehoff Nova-S or something. Is that the card you're talking about? I found one for $180 but that seems pricey. Where have you all been buying your DVB-S cards from?

Speaking of which, does it come with a remote?

Thats the one. Hunt around on Trademe to find them even cheaper... there are different brands too, I hear the Twinhan cards are good...
