i'm in the market for a 32" LED TV for a small room - are there any that are 100Hz native?  I was hoping to get a Samsung but their H5500 Smart TV is 50Hz native...

I think you'll find all TVs in NZ are native 50hz. These days most have higher rates selectable though. According to it's specs the H5500 does 100hz.

nah that's the ClearMotion rate - its a native 50Hz panel.  there are many 100Hz native panels but all in bigger sizes :(

I couldnt find anything smaller than 32 with decent motion when I last looked.

Dont know why they advertise them as 50/100/200Hz when they all do 60/120/240 just fine too.

so you're saying 32" you've seen have decent motion..?  the top of the range Sony 32" had good reviews, but not sure if it would hold up to gaming as well, not that i would be using it for that most of the time.

they're advertised at 50/100 etc over 60/120 because the former is NZ PAL broadcast spec.

It was a panasonic. Not up there with the Samsungs etc but didn't look like a slideshow for movies.

For gaming you usually need to turn motionplus etc off to reduce latency so any crap panel is ok for gaming normally. The latency on my veon junky ones seems perfectly acceptable for PC use but they have no motion enhancers at all to need turning off.

The days of the quality 100Hz 32" TV's are behind us.
To a degree, the days of 32" main stream brand TV's is almost at an end...
Simply put, the TV manufacturers lose money selling 32" TV's to retailers, but have continued to do so to gain market / mind share.
Now the global TV market has shrunk so far, some companies will walk away from 32" TV's all together. 100Hz panels in that size will be VERY unlikely to turn up on their radar.

this is really annoying that we should all be forced to buy huge TVs... there would be a huge market for 32" as they're a lot cheaper and not everybody has the space for 40", but the manufacturers obviously want to streamilne production with fewer models and keep costs down.

TV broadcasts are only 50Hz anyway. I always turn motion processing off to avoid the horrible impact it has on the picture.

There are some great monitors in the 27" - 32" range at good prices these days, if you don't need a built-in tuner functionality.

? that's not relevant... due to the way the panels work fast moving video can look terrible, increasing the refresh rate can look infinitely better, basically making fast motion look smooth like real-life.  unfortunately not all manufacturers are equal in this area, and some methods of frame interpolation can make things look worse.

Saw this is one in their latest catalogue.

And here they say it´s good:

May be a way to go?

HD ready, 50 Hz? This is the very bottom of the range Panasonic...
No IPS panel, limited inputs, average sound.
It's cheap, but it's not a Veon / JVC / Konka etc, so that's a plus.

I think there were a couple of 100Hz native models available in 2014 from LG and Panasonic.

The 32as630z is a better 32" model than their a400Z. 100Hz backlight blinking is not the same as 100Hz native.
