Thinking of buying a Roku 3 for access to UKTV services and UK Netflix.

Questions, can I buy a US Roku from Amazon (via the GZ link of course) and just connect it via a VPN to the UK? Also can anyone see any problem with having an Apple TV hooked up to US Netflix and the Roku connected to UK Netflix? - they wont ever be connected at the same time.

You need a UK Roku if you want BBC iPlayer. I have a US Roku and couldn't install iPlayer for that reason.

Not so; with the US Roku, download the Plex app and add BBC iPlayer as a channel. Work's a treat, great quality.

Not so; with the US Roku, download the Plex app and add BBC iPlayer as a channel. Work's a treat, great quality.

I'd rather have a UK Roku as there is more than iplayer available I think plus the added hassle of having to go through Plex.

IIRC it's all to do with how you set up your Roku account as to which apps you get. (This is from memory of a year of so ago when I got a Roku stick.) There's also something about it on unotelly's help.

You need to VPN to the UK to create your roku account that's associated with the device, then it will show UK apps.

Sounds more logical then making different devices for each location.

My understanding is all Roku's are the same. Its loads its firmware etc based on the Roku account you link to it.
