Hey there, this forum seemed like the most relevant to post this in.

Recently bought a 46" Refurb Veon TV from the Warehouse (probably not a great move I know but it was cheap), and it didn't have a remote so they gave me a cheapo universal remote to use.

However I can't figure out how to get the universal remote to work with it, I've tried everything that it says in the manual and still can't figure it out. Is there something else I can do to get it to work or would a better universal remote help at all?

It may just be the universal remote doesn't work with that particular brand. You could possibly take it back to The Warehouse and claim that it doesnt work and let them either, get it to work or give you a replacement remote that will actually work.

How much was it and what was the model. I would suggest getting a logitech usiversal remote if it was really cheap, but Veon aren't listed as a manufacturer. I think they are rebadged Transonics which are on it.

$450 on special at the moment SRO9111

http://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/red/catalog/product/Veon-46-inch-Full-HD-LED-LCD-TV-SRO9111?SKU=1843500

Yeah that's currently my problem is that Veon aren't listed anywhere so I can't find the correct code to use for it. I'll try find/use Transonic codes and if they don't work maybe get a better universal remote.

My current universal remote is 'One for All', any idea if that's a decent brand?

+1
They shouldn't have sold it without a genuine remote.  It's not fit for purpose. Ask them for a genuine remote or a refund.

That ad doesn't say it is a second and missing a remote. I would push for them to provide the proper remote, or get a refund. Considering it is a house brand and probably a lower quality panel than the premium brands, it isn't that great a deal to pass up

I too bought a One for all universal remote (URC-2981) from the Warehouse to work with my Veon TV. Alas, no dice. No codes in the book and no codes available on the Internet. Their online set up process also yielded no results.

I then phoned One for all customer support (0800 1425569). They asked me to ship my remote to Amber Technologies at Unit 3, Porana Road, Glenfield, Auckland. Two weeks later & without any feedback, the remote arrives back.

Now I have basic functionality. I have not tested the "pause live TV" option with a USB drive. Or to play back any other media from the USB port.

According to the receipt, they used code 3528 for my remote.

Now, there is at least one code for Veon TV's out there on the Internet. foot-in-mouth
