I have a problem copying DVD disks which have been written by my Sony RDRHX720 DVD recorder.
Home video clips copied from the hard disk to DVD disks by the Sony recorder play OK on other DVD players & on my PC, but when I try a disk copy using Nero or Cyberlink Power Producer, the program aborts.
Nero aborts with "internal error" as soon as it tries to read the DVD.   Other programs (such as Power Producer) can copy the disk to an image file, but then abort when trying to write to a blank DVD.
Anyone got any ideas?

I have this model and I have not experienced this issue. Have you tried using the unit itself to copy the disc in question? The recorder has a dubbing feature that will copy the DVD to its HD and then burn the image to a blank disc. If Nero can't handle it, the unit itself should be able to. If it can't, you may have a corrupt disc on your hands...?

Yes, I can copy the disk back to the recorder & write another, so all is not lost..
But I was hoping to do copies on the PC which is much faster, & I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work.
I was wondering if the Sony uses a slightly different format, though both seem to write UDF 1.2 (I think)..
I'm pretty sure my media are ok too.

When it aborts, what is the error message?

The above was my 100th post, btw. I hope it arrives on your screen with some kind of fanfare and complimentary bubbles!

Nero claps out with "Internal Error".
Power Producer comes up with an enigmatic code: E0FF000C (which seems quite common, but non-specific, in Google).
NTI DVDmaker copies the DVD to a disk image, then when trying to write to blank DVD (of the same type):
"The layout type is incompatible with the target disc type".
- Interestingly NTI says the original Sony-produced DVD is 9 tracks??

I've tried "disc-at-once" & "track-at-once" & have just about run out of new software & ideas to try...

10,000 Angels sang in harmony when it happened. It was quite a sound.

The admin team drank the bubbles for you.

I have this model DVD/HDD Recorder, and had the same problem until I used my old favourite,  the free DVD Decrypter. Just create an ISO image on your HDD from your source DVD, then burn as many DVDs as you like. This does mean two steps, but it never fails for me.

OK, thanks for that.
It sounds a likely prospect.
I'll give it a try...
