Using a DVB-S for FTA recording.

Any recommendations for a commercial skip / cut app ?  I see there is comskip and showanalyser to be used within various wrapper apps such as MCEBuddy and Lifextender.

Most appear to require conversion from the WTV format to dvr-ms format to work.

Any of them work reliably for NZ based adverts ?

Cheers

8 x quick presses on the remote is very cost effective!

Comskip used to work fairly well for me when I was dvb-s based.  You'd probably need to add something to the front to remove the wtv wrapper...as I'm not sure that it includes that...I could be wrong.  Having a quick conversation with Erik (the developer) may give you some suggestions.

Comskip will work directly with wtv files, including those containing h264 video from DVB-T as well as MPEG-2 from DVB-S sources (at least the paid version does). I use that with dvr-ms toolbox. I get very good results with tv3 shows, but fairly average results with other channels. DVRMS Toolbox automates the scanning process.

For shows I want to keep, I use Video Redo, which is one of the few video editors that can handle h264 wtv files without transcoding. It will also do the conversion to other formats if required. Down side is that it's not cheap.
