Hi everyone,

Overtime you ended up with a whole drive full of TV programs that you intend to watch (well, my wife does). So my in fact that my wife started to delete the watched and watched programs etc, freeing up a significant HDD capacity.

Short story long, ever since then the PVR will just freeze while watching live TV (not in playback mode) and the only remedy is to turn the PVR off and then back on again. It's a few years old, purchased mid 2009 and has performed fine since without any problems.

We'd like to watch some of the recorded programs at some stage and I could always download from the 'net those that can be.

The only HDD management tool on the PVR appears to be Format and I've also considered a Reset. Does anyone have any ideas?

Isn't Topfiled a Dish TV Product? (Hamilton) I have found them excellent in the past for after sales service and repairs, perhaps drop them a line and see what they say. I do see them on GZ now and again so they may spot this.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Last night the PVR froze after 40mins, and then did this a second time. We had to watch free-to-air TV for a while to get this to happen consistently, it was almost bearable.

So it was a Format of the HDD... watch this space.

Nope... that didn't fix it.

However, I have noted that any programs recorded via programmed timer, that is TV off and powering up from standby then turning off... the recorded program is fine (longer than an hour) and plays completely.

So it's looking like a Factory Reset, then maybe a HDD swap (just to see if it this)

Replaced all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply, one CAP had definitely failed as it had expanded and no longer measured 330uF (15uF).

However this didn't fix the problem, just shorten the period between freezes... oh well, we have a new satBox S8200 to setup over the weekend.
