Morning All
Have a 16bay storage enclosure with 32gb of ram and 16 x 2TB hdd's.
This enclosure is a supermicro 3u enclosure.
For some magical reason, the server keeps becoming unresponsive.
I did have freenas installed on it, i thought maybe i was being greedy with putting on freenas with such low ram.
However, the server was fine for 6months+, i then moved homes and put it (unused) in the rental for 3months.
I've had it running for 2weeks and every single day +-12hrs it becomes unresponsive and needs to be physically turned off and back on.
As we know, this isn't ideal for storage servers, hdd's or any server!
So last week i decided to format the server, used hardware raid (adaptec 5405) and install windows 2012 r2 only.
To my surprise(sarcasm), its still becoming unresponsive. The server currently doesn't do anything besides sit there with no programs running, still becomes unresponsive.
*clueless*
I then decided to transfer some data (+-1.2TB) to the new raid6.....again the server becomes unresponsive after about 500gb transfered.
Where should i start? what should i break first?
Server Specs :
- 32Gb Ram
- Intel Xeon CPU E31240 @ 3.30GHz x 2
