Hi all

You may remember a few months ago I asked for some help with installing a projector and screen as well as the wiring for a new build project in my living room as we were nearing completion of our home.

Well here is the outcome. We finally moved in last weekend and have just finally set up the HT.

So in the end I went with...

Cupboard based av linked to three rooms with distributed sky and media hubs. Hdmi to all three rooms ( living room, bed 1 bed 2 and bed 3).

Control is over iR over cat5 and there's a projector installed in living room with a currently 92" screen. The housing for the screen is capable of housing up to 120" and has electrics for motorised screen.

Pioneer bdp450 3d multi region BDP
Marantz sr5007
Wdtv media hub
Wdtv live

Samsung series 8 52" TV
benq projector 1070+

B&W 602, cc6 and ASW608 and directional ceiling speakers for surrounds.

Dimmable ceiling led strip in pelmet.

Still no curtains but will have blackout roll down blinds on the two main wall windows.

Anyway looks and sounds great. Family love it.

I'm sure you'll be pleased that it's all done and dusted! I know I was when I finished putting ours together (far less substantial in the screen department than yours though - my wife wouldn't let me put in a projector!).

One question, though - is there any particular reason you've put your front speakers in the very corners of the room? My understanding is this spot is usually regarded as far from the ideal place to locate speakers (other than subs sometimes, and even then that's more about maximising bass response than anything else).

I understand you may not want to have them in front of the windows (in all seriousness, I initially thought they were huge cavities for the front speakers!), but even still they could be potentially be brought in from the sides a decent amount and also brought forward a bit at the same time. You'll hopefully get better imaging and better (controlled) bass than compared to their current location. Just my two cents' worth, but you could always try it out and hear if you think there's any improvement...

Yep, again its to satisfy marital bliss...I can move the speakers to be in front of the windows during movie night but they move back to the corners where "they belong" !

Oh the compromises one must make! I had a suspicion that may be

I wasn't compromising on that one, I must say... We've got fairly large Paradigm floorstanders as fronts and they've been placed where they need to be for audio benefits (they're in polished rosewood so I think my wife actually likes their looks). And our sub is a behemoth (an SVS PB2000), but I think she is in awe of the sub and is quite happy for it to lurk near the corner in all its blunt ugliness.

How did you calibrate the audio system? Is the cupboard close enough to use the Audesy microphone?

Yep, the cupboard is around 10m from the TV position and through a side door so the mic can just reach the third sitting position so i calibrated over 1st,2nd and 3rd seating positions.

I actually find the Audyssey system pretty good (even if i cant spell it !).
