Can anyone help me with a sky dish problem.

During the day, there is no reception at all.  However about 7-00 in the evening the reception comes back.  Reception is there until about 8-00 the next morning and then it goes.  Each day every day.

The decoder is an old pace model.   It is our original decoder which we kept when we got MySky and we are paying an extra $25 a month.  The decoder is now up at our holiday home.  The LNB on the dish is relatively new - 10.75GHz

I tested the signal with a satelite meter.  During the day, I can't detect any satellite.  However, in the evening there is no problem.  I've aligned the dish so that the signal (strength and quality) is at the highest during the evening.

This is most frustrating....

Thanks all

My only guess is that there could be a lot of sunlight being reflected onto your dish?

But then that is only a guess!

LNB's dont last forever, they finally surcome to heat and rain, sounds like during the day it heats up and stops or goes off frequency, I would call Sky and tell them its broke, there should be no cost for a genuine fault.

With the decoder in use outside of the same premises as your MySky you are probably breaking Skys terms of service (ie. stealing a subscription based service). They will not fix the holiday home setup, as you don't have their service there legitimately.

I support the "your lnb is stuffed" theory.

Given that Sky staff are known to frequent the forums, and your name is on your publicly viewable profile.....

..... I would be inclined to check the terms and conditions you have with Sky!

Considering that sky promote the instalation of a dish at your holiday home so you can take sky with you, I dont see how they can have a problem with it.

Cool... I happily eat my words if Sky are happy with it
