We have a Panasonic 65" Plasma TV (P65VT50), recently it has been intermittently doing what I can only call is "crashing". The TV will suddenly not respond to the remote or the side panel buttons. The LED will flash indicating it is receiving and
instruction but the TV does not respond. The only thing we can do is power off at the wall and start again.

The TV has the latest firmware and has the following connected per HDMI....

Vodafone TV (T-Box)
Xbox One
Chromecast
It also is Internet connected per Ethernet.

The TV has exhibited this behaviour whilst using the T-Box, Xbox One and internal TV tuner. When this has occurred there has been no particular activity e.g changing inputs and the TV is at normal operating temperatures. We have not changed its
location, connected devices. The TV is approximately 3 years old.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'd begin by unplugging the Vodafone TV box and ensuring HDMI CEC is turned off on all other devices...

If you have no luck with that, try 'returning it to shipping condition', then, if you have no luck, send it to a service agent.

This is what I'd be doing.

The worst thing about having one of those TV's would be being told it's faulty and there are no spares available. I suspect it'll still be a little while before any TV on the market comes close to the picture quality of that!

OK I have removed all connected devices and  done a restore to shipping state. Re set up Network, tuning settings etc relabelled the inputs etc etc etc . I am now reintroducing each connected device one at a time and running for awhile to see if the problem continues.

Glad going well so far. I have a 65 inch VT50 and VT60 and yeah nothing out yet to match these awesome TVs. Tho despair not the brand new Panasonic OLED TV due out in USA soon is getting some awesome press even if you will need $11000 US to buy one lolz.

Off topic, but I have the P55VT50 (same as yours but 55"). Did you just get the firmware through the TV menu? I don't recall ever having a firmware update available for mine, I don't suppose you could advise what firmware version you have installed?

Slighty on topic, I occasionally have the picture suddenly go garbled (and maybe make a noise), it does that for about 10 seconds then the TV auto-restarts and carries on as if nothing has happened. I think it's only ever done this while watching freeview.

Also, do any of the other VT50 owners have a faint (but permanent) channel 2 logo burned in? I'd still get this TV again, but would run 100 or so hours of run-in slides first thing if I could do it over.

I have the same as you (except 55) and have updated the firmware once, was through the menu (tv is plugged into network). I purchased mine purely for the picture quality and have never used the apps or even the 3D aspect of the set. Would hate it if mine packed up.

This is why i was reluctant to get a smart TV, i like the idea of the display being dumb as possible and connecting smart devices to it. Unfortunately fighting the tide never works though.

This amazing TV though isn't as full on smart OS as the current generations though. Hope it gets fixed.

Own 4 VT models (VT10, VT30, VT50 and VT60) and no burn in on any but then most of my watching is via the media server functions, Sky or channel surfing. I just love these TVs to bits. Also had none of the issues others are hitting. I normally check every few months for updates via tv think did last lot as Netflix came out so could add app but have not bothered with Netflix in the end.
