I've been using LaCie NAS drives for the last few years but have yet another one fail this week. Seems like around 3 years and then they fail, amazingly just after the warranty expires. They are also owned by Seagate now, not renowned as the most reliable drives as AFAIK.

I was wondering what other peoples experiences have been and what they might recommend.

I've got 4x4tb drives hooked up to gigabit Ethernet. Supports a custom built house wide HTPC system, Windows based.

Plenty of discussions about NAS - and to reiterate,  I am a religious Synology user
