Hi,

Am looking for a new wireless keyboard for our htpc. The problem is that most of the longer range ones seem to be $400 ish... I have found the Genius Luxmate 810 which looks like a goer:

http://www.geniusmouse.co.uk/product/218/Genius_Luxmate_Wireless_USB_Keyboard-%3C-Mouse-%3C-Remote.html

Are there any other options?

I need a range of around 5 metres.

Cheers,

Matt.

Sorry - limited experience here:

MCE Keyboard - Hated it. Track-sticky joysticky thing was useless. Keyboard itself was good. IR for a keyboard is a pain.

Had an HA91 Gigabyte Media PC, and the wireless RF keyboard that shipped with it was great, and had a great trackball that worked really well, even though I am not a trackball fan.

hmm. that looks interesting and possible worth a crack. The full size di novo edge is pretty good, but expensive at $400. Perhaps I might look into the mini when it becomes available

Oh, and i sold my MCE keyboard 'cause I hated the pointer thingy - i went back to a plugged in KB/mouse for the few times i need them at the moment

Yeah, I'm interested in it to. Just hope the cover doesn't break easy when dropped.

I am using a Logitech MX3200 Cordless key board and mouse at about 4m. Had a Microsoft one - it didn't have the range so I got the Logitech but YMMV.

I have one of these:

As it happens I am wanting to sell it as I no longer have a desktop. $149 shipped by courier anywhere in NZ.

I have a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse+Keyboard setup(7000 series i think) and i have a range of about 10m(can change channels from the garage with the keyboard) Not a "proper" MC setup, but has a number of keys for play/pause etc. Plus with the Hauppauge remote I'm set.
Works great. Batteries last about 3 months (I play Counterstrike and AoE a lot with it all too.)
Paid $199 from memory

Try the BTC 9019URF.  I have had this keyboard for ages, has good range, is cheap as, and is almost indestructable.  Not as easy to find in NZ these days but I bought mine for less than $50.

Hi - I have a BTC 9019. Its been good for my setup. It has a keys with decent touch / movement, a variety of preset keys along the top for controlling sound volume etc, a joystick in one corner instead of a mouse, and man sized slots on either side so you can hold onto it easily. Decent range, at least 10 metres. The software is pretty standard, a update appeared as part of MS online update recently. Batteries last well, and an on screen indicator tells you when they are getting low.

Recommended.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Any ideas where I can source the BTC from? Pricespy doesn't seem to list any.

Cheers,

Matt.

Pb tech wellington appear to have it:

http://www.pbwellington.co.nz/p.aspx?4573

This is not a particularly good price, you can probably find it for cheaper if you do a thorough search.  Check with the ascent guys, they may be able to get it in for you (this is where I bought it from).
