Hi
FIL is after a new TV. Very keen on 65+ Inches. Doesn't like curved.
Keen to hear others opinions.
Picture Quality is Paramount.

Kopkiwi: Probably the Sony X930C
Item: Are there any non-curved OLED around?
Would be my option...
Issue with the X930 for me are the bulky built in speakers adding unnecessary width - one would assume anyone wanting to spend that much on a TV would already have a proper home theater audio setup making the built in ones redundant..?
Samsung UA65JS8000WX seems very nice 65" and has HDR
I have read about some nit-picking issues with the Sony's.
If the budget stretches I'd love to look at the new LG OED range also
Have you read rtings review site - they seem thorough
KrazyKid: I've been looking ATM as well - your budget is a but more than mine - but still I've looked in that bracket - cos who wouldn't...

Yes this is the case at the moment as well. The speakers look hideous. If there was a non curved OLED that would be a great option, I don't see any around.
Is OLED a dying or emerging technology? Doesn't seem many manufacturers are using it? 10 years ago it was supposed to be the "next big thing"
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
bfginger: I don't think it's worth spending $6000 on a TV. It'll be surpassed and not worth much in as little as 18 months. The value for money drops quickly once you're spending more than $3000 on a TV.

Sorry I don't agree with this. I spent more than $3000 on my Panasonic 65VT60 and there is still nothing that can match it, except OELD but that is over twice the price. The picture quality of Plasma is still not able to be beaten by LCD, and never will due to the way the technologies work.
If your after the best of anything the price gets high quickly.
Back to the OP - what about trying to find a Plasma from DSE? They did have a couple a few days ago a really low low prices, like < $1000, but not sure if they all got snapped up.

No 4K or 3D plasmas around I don't think.
I agree with your comments. I have always spent large on tv's. I recall my 34" loewe that cost me 8K and the RP Loewe that cost me $9k. I never recall someone saying "my 3K looks as good or better than that".
