Hi guys, me again...

Well I have finally almost got my HTPC up and running, just a ******* question I for some reason hadn't thought of until now...

With my Hauppage 150 I got the Vista MCE remote reciever bundle.

This is not going to work on XP (non MCE edition) is it?

Damn.

Hmmmm.

Appears I need the KB905213 Update http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a2df0161-be51-410e-b9f8-bf3efccb20ba&DisplayLang=en

But Its not letting me install as I dont have KB888795... which for some frustrating reason MS have removed from the updates site.

I had one of these here that I spent days trying to get working for somebody. It turns out that the new Vista only remotes are Vista only - they will not work with XP or XP MCE due to differences in the receiver and there are no drivers for XP or XP MCE that support support these, it's essentially a Vista only product. The remote will work correctly with an XP MCE2005 receiver, it's just that the receiver will not work in XP.

There are similair issues with the new Philips MCE remotes as well and I've heard that MS are discontinuing the old MCE2005 remotes so they may become a collectors item shortly!

Well gosh.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a remote + reciever + blaster that will work with Plain Windows XP (Not MCE)

Thanks in advance,
Laura

Please tone your language right down. It is unacceptable in an all-ages forum.

You should be able to easily pick up a XP remote from any computer store or TradeMe, there are plenty of them around.
