and here's a trick question. Would it be better to try and sell the whole box, or strip the parts down again and sell ?

It's a Silverstone box, Intel something, good amount of ram, 2 x hdds, Hauppage 500 card, can't remember video card and Vista MCE with remote, blaster and MS wireless keyboard, wireless card for EPG retrieval.

Any suggestions folks ?

It's a PC basicallythat you have extensively customised to work as a PVR. If it works seamlessly with solid software, and you feel that you won't need to provide much after sales support (!) then I would sell it as a working PVR and offer to do a setup for anybody. You can then charge a bit of a premium for that. Ideally folks see it workintg your place first so they can really see the benefits.

Been there done that, and couldn't get $800 for a complete unit that I paid $1600 for.

Two words:

S T R I P   F O R    P A R T S

Dammit. That was three.

Perhaps I would questions your sales ability rather than the value of the system Wink

Try and sell it as one unit. Trademe probably wont give you the highest price possible, as theres plenty of bits on there. Not sure where else you'd sell it though.
