To Moderators, First I did not know which forum to place this on so please forgive and move to correct one.

I am looking for a new TV about 60 inch, built in Wi Fi so that I can access www via modem and most importantly it must support separate speakers through its own amplifier to give better sound. At the moment I have a Samsung and the only complaint is the poor sound quality, it will run separate speakers but only through an external amplifier such as my Hi Fi system but I do not want to do that. Any suggestions please.

No sorry.

TV's do not feature built-in amplifiers that allow you to connect to external non-powered speakers.

By 'opinion overseas'... do you mean forums where a few posters are incredibly vocal about their bookshelf speakers + sub combos?

Whirlpool is well noted for having a handful of regulars postulating this approach.

Ultimately, soundbars will suit some, but if music is your thing, look elsewhere.

Sony is getting positive reviews for built in speakers. In the 5K+ bracket.

Just purchased a sound bar for my Samsung TV. Incredible sound. So much that I have dumped the stereo and we just use the sound bar now for all audio in the main living area. Definitely recommend a good quality sound bar to supplement crappy TV speakers.

I also have never seen a TV with its own amplified speakers.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

A range of the new 2016 LG's coming out has what is effectively a sound bar built in to the base of the TV. It's sooo generous of the TV manufacturers to give us decent sound back and promote it as a feature.

I got an LG soundbar for my new Samsung TV just before Christmas. Very happy with its performance.

They've done this for a while with their built-in Harman Kardon systems.

Some of them were 'drop down' units, which looked pretty cool, but ultimately struck me as something else to go wrong.

Sony genuinely had good built-in speakers on some models, but they certainly didn't out perform a decent soundbar / amp + speakers.

Thanks for all the replies some very interesting remarks.
I had a 42 inch Dick Smith flat screen TV = G9442 106 CM. gave it away 2-3 years ago and that supported separate speakers. I had a look at a few TV on Monday and came away undecided a few were offering a deal on sound bars purchased with a TV ??? I guess I can't get what I was after so Sound bar or Speakers.

I do have a spare amp that I could use but need to get it checked out also a couple of old stereo systems that although not in use could provide the amp just a matter of concealing it at least that is a free option. I see the matter of which is best sound bar or amp is contentious, the speakers that I have are not too bad Technics 3 way so mounted on stands would give better sound than a sound bar I am guessing.
So Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sony ??????? I'm picking Samsung or LG

Is that like when old CRT TV screens were concave, then TVs went completely flat, then someone thought that a convex screen could be marketed as a feature?

Soooo... if the TV brand couldn't make good TV speakers to begin with, how good will their soundbar be when compared to a company that only makes decent sound gear?

A lot of people buy soundbars because they're skinny, not because they sound good. So yeah, base it on demos, nothing else.
