Hmm frustrating..

we have a samsung blu ray player and have lost the remote for it. The player has only limited button functionality and my other samsung Tv remotes only enable play/stop/FFW/Rwnd

this is especially frustrating when the blu ray auto plays from the last memory point..

Any suggestions..

something like this and you can also replace other remotes so you are using only one remote to control everything .

Common sense is not as common as you think.

That's what I switched to when the dog decided our DVD player remote was a chew toy. It works well, although can be a little brutal on battery life. And the WAF can be low if the remote gets out of sync with device on/off state.

If your phone has an IR blaster, use that.

I ended up getting a Harmony remote when I got sick of juggling 4 separate ones. Controls the TV, Home Theater System, PVR and even the Apple TV. If you go to the Logitech Harmony site and enter the model of your Blu Ray player it'll tell you if the functions for that particular machine are already programmed into their remotes. If not, often a similar model is and it still works, or you can tweak to teach the commands. The setup can be a bit frustrating, especially if you're going down the route of programming in processes with multiple steps, but once you get that done it's great. I love mine.
