There's a new Freeview channel called Duke.

Can someone remind me how you add a new channel in NextPvr.

Do I need to know the frequency?

just go to the capture devices and hit scan, it should pick up the new channel.

you might have to change channel numbers if you dont like the default one.

I figured it out.

I think you have to this repeatedly, for each device. Tuners, like "DVB-T", will be repeated.

Right-click opening screen
Settings...
Devices...

(choose each tuner)

Device setup...

(important: make sure region is correct, not "all regions")

Scan...

(repeat for each device / tuner)

Whoops. Missed updated the EPG.

Make sure your EPG setting matches your existing channels.

I use "EPG collector" and XMLTV.

Right click opening screen

Settings...
Devices...
(copy existing channel settings)
(back to settings screen)
Channels...
"Update EPG" button

Assuming you're just using Freeview channels is there any reason why you still bother with EPG collector when native EIT is available? The EIT can be updated in real time meaning running late shows shouldn't be missed.

has this changed since I last looked at it, before it was just now/next. im still using epg collector (i rarely use nextpvr/kodi live tv, but its still on my server in case I ever do want to use it...)

has this changed since I last looked at it, before it was just now/next. im still using epg collector (i rarely use nextpvr/kodi live tv, but its still on my server in case I ever do want to use it...)

Freeview began transmitting a 7 day EPG around a year or so ago in preparation for Freeview Plus. It does use Huffman coding though to minimize bandwidth so won't be available on any device that doesn't support this.

sub updated it last year to support this, but I have noticed what still appears to be an occasional bug where the EPG on some channels is empty and a manual update fixes it. Maybe if more people were running it we might see if this is just my setup or not.

It's the first I've heard of EIT. I didn't find EIT mentioned on the NextPVR website. (It kept finding "either" instead of EIT)

Next time I get some grief, I'll experiment with other technologies.

Not too sure, but, do you know if this is available only in Auckland? Last time I looked (<1 year ago), in Wellington, I only saw two shows per channel.

It's nationwide and as I posted above started broadcasting last year. Probably wasn't the year I posted above thinking about it, and probably around the middle of the year. It was needed for Freeview Plus to work.

An EIT EPG is the standard EPG broadcast on DVB networks globally. For multiple reasons that aren't relevant here NZ decided to only broadcast a MHEG-5 based EPG on Freeview DVB-T and only broadcast now & next on the EIT EPG.
