Hey I just recently picked up a Samsung 5000 Series "LED" TV for dirt cheap (bought as faulty 90% fixed it) and am wanting a wall mount for it.

As I paid under $100 for the TV I don't want to spend heaps on a mount.

It will be going over the foot of my bed so I don't want to cheap out too much as I don't want to wake up to a TV on my legs or cat.

Yep, if the Rv firs the product specs, (under 20 kgs) that one should do perfectly.

I got an even cheaper 'rail slide' version from 1day a while back ($15) and the quality of your wall and screw fixtures is the key to security and safety. Use the biggest threaded screws into studs, and don't be tempted to mount mid-Gib with those silly butterfly screws and you'll be sorted!

brateck from PB tech will sort you out for less than a comparible mount at PB.

That one goes into a stud so your TV is fixed at that location, if you get a rail one that spans 2 studs then the TV can slide along the rail a considerable amount to position it where you want.

I have one of these in the lounge with a 39" on it and its great - low quality LCD so the tilt is essential to get a usable image when sitting since the crap screens go all weird when you look at them from below the panel.

If you want to tilt down a lot, then put the brackets on the TV as low as possible, otherwise it hits the wall before it is as tilted as it goes. That means the rail goes lower than the middle of the screen so take that into account when positioning it.

If you are looking elsewhere, there are many mounts on trademe that are only suitable for 18" stud spacing or solid walls because they are too short. That's going to be no use in a standard 600mm spacing NZ house wall, unless you place it over a nog as well which will limit where you can put it to somewhere that is probably not ideal.
