Hi

I bought a new Harmony 650 remote and managed to get it to work last night .

I have 4 activities in the following sequence on the LCD display:

  1. Listen to Music
  2. Watch TIVO
  3. Watch a movie
  4. Watch TV

Can I make changes to the sequence of activities as they are displayed on the LCD screen?

ie: 1. Watch TV, 2 Watch a movie.  3 Watch TiVO  4 Listen to music

The idea is that the default display on the ' home screen' is Watch TV  and Watch a movie, and the other 2 are on the next 'page'.

I hope the above is clear enough for someone who has a Harmony 650 remote to suggest ways to get around this.

I have deleted the activities and re-created them in the sequence that I want but that doesnt come up on the display as planned.

Please note that I am not seeking advise on how to set-up each activity as they are working fine. Only the sequence on how they are displayed.

I haven't used my Harmony software for about 12 months but under the advanced options you can reorder the activities so they display on the screen in whichever order you want.

Looks like the 650 doesn't have that feature... (from a quick google). But maybe try logging in here: http://members.harmonyremote.com/EasyZapper/ProcessWelcome/Welcome_Show.asp and see if you can do it there.

Seems to be well known in the Harmony community that the re order feature was once available but removed for the 650. Some people posted some work arounds on here which may work for you?

Thanks for your answers.

Shame that this feature is removed, in an otherwise very good remote

The four activities you listed have dedicated activity buttons above the LCD. The LCD is supposed to be for additional functions without a standard button (although you can if you wish duplicate dedicated buttons on the LCD), so you could choose those functions without the LCD (and therefore the order on the LCD becomes a non-issue).

I have a Harmony 650 and could definitely re-arrange the activity order on the LCD - although I have not altered the programming for about 12 months (so maybe it could have been removed in an update since last time I did this. Unlikely I would think though). If this is a real problem for you I can verify this.

When I programmed my remote (albeit the first time some years ago!) I found the browser based application to be useless as it was too restricted in functionality  - the application that you install and run as an executable was a lot more feature rich. I note the link above discusses the browser based programming (myharmony.com) - I suspect the restriction you have encountered does not apply to the standalone executable. Hence the reason two Harmony 650 owners have assured you this can be done on this thread.

Great remote by the way - some of my keys are getting a bit mushy now after a few years of usage, and I will replace with an identical one at some stage.

Hi

I am using the software that I downloaded and not the website browser based setup.

I think I will use the dedicated buttons on the top for the activities that I have listed and create a new activity for the

LCD:   example watch movies with the Hometheatre sound system ON.

I picked up the remote for $75 from PB tech CHCH.

Delete them all and add back in the order you want them. Only way I could do it.

I have a 650 and a Touch. I only (currently) have one activity on the 650, so haven't tried re-ordering activities.

On the Touch, you don't re-order the activities in the Software (at least, I couldn't see where), you do it on the remote itself.

Not relevant for you OP, but in case anyone stumbles across this thread in future and has a Touch/Ultimate.

I did this step and tried but still not in the order I wanted.

I even put A B C D in front of the 4 activity names,  thinking that there was some logic on how this gets arranged (perhaps alphabetically), in the remote but no avail.

I will try again and if not I will give it a rest. Life has to go on!
