Apologies in advance if this has been answered in another post...
I am trying to setup my old home theatre system in my new house, for which I have bought a new HD Epson home theatre projector. The problem I have is that I currently have an old Bose Lifestyle sound system which of course does not have any HDMI capability.
I would like the capability to split the HDMI output from my laptop (or blu ray player when I finally get one) so that the HDMI video signal goes to the projector while the audio signal somehow gets converted from HDMI to RCA so it can then go into the Bose system for processing the surround sound.
At the moment, when I plug the HDMI cable into my laptop and play a movie from it, the analogue audio output from the laptop is cut off and the only audio output is via HDMI - which is going into the projector. So I can only listen to the sound through the projector speakers (which are crap) unless I run a 3.5mm plug to RCA cable from the projector back to the RCA input at the Bose. That's all a bit ridiculous...
As much as I'd like to just buy a whole new audio system, I'd like to get a few more years out of the Bose. I looked online at the Jaycar website, but couldn't find any device that might do the job.
Can anyone think of another way around it? Or point me in the direction of a switch box that has HDMI input, with HDMI video + RCA audio output?
