you need to enable VMC to play DVDs in the registry, and then tell the DVD section of VMC to watch the folders that contain the DVDs

do this at your own risk because registry hacking is dangerous!  but...i know this works:

go to regedit, and find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\Dvdsettings.

In there change ShowGallery to Gallery.

Load VMC, go to My DVDs, Press I on the remote, and Add Folders (from memory).  Then just browse to the DVD folders and they should appear in your DVDs section.

EDIT: Although i've referred to Vista Media Center, this works for XP Media Center 2005 as well.

Thankyou for the response.

I believe I may have changed that setting sometime ago, as I have 100 plus dvds that work fire

It is only the dvds that reside on my F: & G: that I can not see

I have enabled the folder with in MCE

the E: drive (original) works fine.

Any assistance appreciated

So what is your folder structure like on these two new drives?  are the DVD main folders in the root of the drive?  so e:\dvd_name1 e:\dvd_name2 etc etc?

or are they in a sub-folder?  eg e:\dvds\dvd_name1, e:\dvds\dvd_name2 etc?

sorry, I misread your email,

all DVDs are held n the top level of the drives   no sub folders

I have copied the films that worked on the E: drive to the F and G and they still will no show once copied over.

I have also coped films from the G: to the E: , they displayed on the E: but not the G:

Regards
Paul

each movie has the structure

dvd folder name
.....video_TS

......audio_TS

ie there are two subfolders for each movie.

The structure is the same for every movie

The structure (ie films) always work on the E dirve (ie seen in MCE) but never when coped to the F and G drives

has to be something to do with the disks then.  are they basic or dynamic discs?  are they partitioned or just straight installs?

i'd try wiping the disks and reinstalling them, then create primary partitions on them and format them as ntfs.
