Hi

Does anyone have any knowledge of using the a/v input on some satellite pci cards. Such as the Twinhan 1027.
I realise it is for connecting your dvd player etc but I was wondering if it was possible to input my current stb as well.

Can you record and watch at the same time? Can you schedule recordings by the av capture?

Hopefully someone has done this or is currently doing this already.

(P.S the reason for this is I do not want to buy a new satellite dvb card with the terrestrial service being so close to implementation)

Thanks all

Never mind then. I have bought an hvr2200 and after seeing what the performance is like in my current system, if I need to I will upgrade my video card to something like the Nvidia 9600gt.

Anyone have any other suggestions for a good graphics card from experience for h.264 processing?

Basically any Nvidia card that is from the 8000 or 9000 series will support the processing required.

Including the geforce 8500GT? and similar. Can you confirm they run without lag or stuttering?

No i cant confirm they work without lag etc.

However the card has h.264 which takes the load of the CPU, so in theory it will work fine as.

Thanks.

I realise the specifications on a lot of cards are that they will run h.264 faultlessly but that is not always the case. It looks like only the 9600gt and the 8800gt are fully capable and have received no complaints so far.
i am not sure about any of the ati cards. Although I would prefer to avoid ati if possible due to the piss poor x1250 onboard my motherboard, if they make a great problem free card I would still have to look at it.

Thats why I asked for a comment from someone who has experienced the cards first hand.
I don't like to base my purchase on stats or flashy marketing and would rather base it on knowledge of the masses.

Cheers for the answer though.
