Hi all,

I've been trying for some time now to get RustyGonad's registry hacks working (here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=34&TopicId=18907), but without complete success.

I've got a Hauppauge PVR-150 tuner to handle the Sky TV input via S-Video, and a Hauppauge HVR-3000 to handle the Freeview Satellite duties.  I've managed to set them both up together so I can view each feed successfully, and have even been able to link them together in the EPG.

But my shortcomings are that I've been unable to record Freeview Satellite when both cards are active (problems with the tuner priorities in the registry perhaps?), and upon reboot I lose all of my settings.

Has anyone else got this combination working correctly (and stable) in Vista Media Centre?  I so dearly want to get this working as it is a real pain in the butt only having one TV feed into my HTPC.  At the moment we can only record or watch one channel at a time.  The WAF is therefore decreasing at an alarming rate.

I'm appealing to others on here as RustyGonad seems to have disappeared of the face of the earth, so I've been unable to get any further assistance from him.

Someone please help me, my WAF, and my sanity....

Install mediaportal - no hack required. Sat and anologue both supported. Its also really easy to get the EPG for both sky and sat via the sat link.

Thanks, but I want to stick to Vista Media Centre.  MediaPortal is just not as good from a useability point of view.

Have you tried it? It has way more features and customization, its likely you'll have to bend over backwards to get what you want in vista mce. In mediaportal it should work straight away, and your MCE remote will work too.

I have tried it briefly but favoured the look and feel of VMC.  Plus my other half has got used to using VMC now so there is no turning back.

At the risk of sounding rude (I'm seriously not trying to be), please only post a reply if you can help me with VMC.  I do not want to move to any other media applications (at this stage at least!).

Thanks guys.

No problem, if Vista MCE is what you want, continue using it, but as you know there are alternatives, with skins so you can change the look/feel :)

Good luck with trying to get it going, perhaps it'll work out better when when they release the update to it that im sure was meant to come out with Vista SP1, or has that come out already? Hope it works out anyway.
