Ok I admit that the words "decent quality" and "Bluetooth" don't necessarily go together all that well but I am after a BT transmitter that can be connected to my stereo AMP full time and transmit to a pair of BT headphones if and when required.  It will need to be powered either via AC or USB, and have either a RCA stereo or 3.5mm input.

Can anyone recommend something I can either source locally or import reasonably easily?

Can't comment on quality, but I've had a good run with other Logitech gear: http://www.logitech.com/en-nz/product/bluetooth-audio-adapter

Pricespy shows a few around at the usual suspects.

Thanks but I think this is a Bluetooth receiver and not a transmitter.  I want something that will be able to send Bluetooth audio from my stereo amp to my bluetooth headphones.  I think the Logitech device you suggested will allow me to only send Bluetooth audio to my stereo amp.

I recently bought a tosblue-x from telme2

If you have optical output (tos) on your AMP then this is a pretty solid option.  As optical outputs are always fixed volume you will require volume control on your headphones.  However if you only have analogue outputs (3.5mm) then that is also an option.... although I have not tried this so can't comment.

I am using this out of my TV (optical) to headphones.  There is a very slight delay which I was hoping to avoid but it is better than other transmitters I have tried.  If your headphones use apt-x then there should be no delay... I always wondered why Bose don't use this in their headphones... they are certainly expensive enough!

There is no battery in this unit.  It is powered by USB.

There is also tosblue-y  if you want to connect to 2 sets of headphones @ about $10 USD extra.

I paid @$10 extra for the DHL shipping so with the USD conversion including shipping it was about $110 NZD.  I ordered it late on Friday night and it arrived direct from China on the Tuesday morning... I was impressed with the speed of delivery and was glad I paid the extra for DHL.

Note: I tried this one from Jaycar but the connection would break up a lot... very disappointing.

I've got a telme2 unit like @kharris. Seems to be a solid unit; runs on USB and has optical / toslink in and 3.5mm in. This is for TV watching, so lag was more important than audio quality. And I'm not an audiophile so couldn't really tell the difference anyway. I'm using optical out and apt-x headphones which works really really well from a latency perspective. Telme2 seem to be a Norweigan outfit but they ship direct from China; didn't take long to arrive. They seem like an audiophilactically-inclined bunch from their website so that might be helpful?

Bose have one, Associated Audio in Wellington are giving away free with the QC35. I talked to them, and they will be selling them separate for $75.  I'd assume they would be decent quality.

Is it a transmitter or receiver?  Hard to tell from the lack of info on Bose's website.

The way it was described, it's a transmitter (not that one I saw on the Bose site)

I heard the ad from Associated audio on the radio the oher day, and it talks about listening to the TV through your BT headphones. They sad they would have stock next week so I'm going to pop in and check it out. I'd have to get a BT receiver if I want to use my QC25's.

(I want it to send the sky box output to the BT speaker outside)

Now that I look, it does't say it's Bose but was sure thats what I heard on the ad. I'll let you know how I get on.

They are not a Bose product. They are a cheap transmitter that they are importing as a giveaway. They are not as good as the ones I mentioned earlier on the jaycar site and they are definitely no where near as good as the one we have suggested you get. I would be wary of the $75 price tag they quote for the giveaway price.

I had one and I gave it back!
Note: I bought some qc35's. I didn't give those back :-)

In my opinion they were pretty crappy too. You are much better to look into the one we suggested. I know they are slightly more expensive but they have much more reliable Bluetooth connectivity and if you are going to use it from your sky box you can connect it directly to the optical out jack.

Sorry for the delayed response but I ended up buying one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GZ5GG5Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't know where I got the referral from as I thought I had decided on the unit that @kharris recommended...  Anyway it does exactly what I wanted.  Cheers again for the advice everyone.
