Says it can do ondemand etc.  Do these actually work?  I had a similar (poss knockoff brand I bought off amazon).  And while I could load the Sky Go and TVNZ apps - I coulnd't play video as HDMI wasn't supported in the apps.

Also the experience was pretty crap as I had to keep switching the remote to "mouse" mode.

Also:

AirPlay.

  • With AirPlay, you can stream music, photos and videos straight to your TV Box  It's an easy way to get video, music and photos to your TV, by using your phone it's easy to browse and control what you see from anywhere in your home.

While you can do audio now, I dont believe you can do video since about IOS8

I reckon there could be some disappointed people after buying this.

You never know though, it may work as it says. I doubt it though.

Question:

The OS and menus (etc.) may support 4k, but does the video?

And if not, can you still advertise it as a 4K product if technically it can only display 4k text and not 4k video?  No HDMI 2 although it does have H265, which suggests 4K video

You tube yes....but tvnz on demand I'd be surprised if it worked - I had a device like this and it sort of thought it was a mobile device and so the tvnz app didn't allow output via hdmi.   Unsure if that has changed in the past year.

Maybe I misunderstand what you're saying, but I know on some other Android-based devices one can Airplay video content - for example, I purchased an app for our Amazon Fire TV, which allows full Airplaying of content from our iPads to a TV, including of video.  Whenever selecting the Airplay symbol, the Amazon Fire shows up (and way quicker than the Apple TV!). Could this device not have a similar app installed? (Not that I'm supporting the product - I too saw it yesterday and thought it looked a bit bogus.)

Possibly.  I know that shairport exists for aftermarket (linux/raspberry pi) airplay audio.  But I understood from the kodi developers that video airplay was difficult/almost impossible and assumed that airplay was kodi based.
