Just browsing round and I see Dick Smith has some very sharp prices on TV's.
$699 for a 32" lcd isn't too shabby for NZ prices (ok, it's only an acer but still).  Must be trying to clear stock before the ones with built in dvb-t tuners arrive Tongue out

Edit RC: We call companies by there name here.

Don't want to be a brand hater or whatever you want to call it, but i know someone who got 3 Acer LCD's for work from DSE. 1 of them outright died (screen went green), anothers colour was out and they took the 3rd one back in fear of that dying too. Could have been just bad luck though, obviously they arent all the same, especially a year on.
But i guess in most cases you get what you pay for.

(the sony D series is great Laughing)

Yea, could be a bit of a lottery.     I think they might even be cheaper - there's $129 cashback thing, not sure if the price listed is before or after the cashback.

As the website states, the price listed is inclusive of the 30% off discount, but excluding the cashback.

So yes you do get a further $129 off by redemption.

I don't trust cash backs and rebates.

My last one hasn't arrived yet. Not happy - something I bought from Delonghi.

I got a $99 cashback on an acer laptop I purchased mid jan. Cheque arrived last week so it took a good couple of months.

2 forms to fill out (One online and them a printed one) and have to attach barcodes from the box etc.

They certainly don't make it a simple process to claim. I almost gave up mid way through as it was so much hassle for $99

Mmmm... yes i know what you mean..
My better half bought a laptop from DSE JAN 2007..
We should have got a $99 cash back from ACER but...

When we went online to claim.. the model wasn't able to be claimed..

Even tho DSE advertised this model having a $99 cash back package.

After 6 emails and 3 replies to Acer.. they stopped replying..

They said they would add that model to their website for claiming.

But never did..

and we never did see out money :(

DSE wouldn't do anything to help also.. abit pissed about that.

Getting off topic sorry :)

Take DSE to the disputes tribunal for the $99.  If you have evidence you will probably get the $99 out of them :)

Cashbacks are now becoming more common in NZ. In the USA they're huge and it's not uncommon to go to somewhere like Best Buy and find that 75% + of their "bargains" are all cashbacks.

I don't think the process is that difficult for Acer but the time it takes them to process the cashbacks (typically 3 months) is a bit on the slow side.

Off topic, but...

Cashbacks are a bad idea. You realise this when it takes twelve months for Best Buy to pay me $100 - I had someone in the U.S. who posted the forms first rate and signature required and then Best Buy claimed they never received it plus they only paid on the last day of the twelve month period for the promotion.

Also there is the story about hundreds of unprocessed cashback claim forms found in a trash can.

I don't trust any company. I am paying with hard money now, why don't just give the discount instead?

Actually this reminded me and I have just contacted LV Martin to say how disappointed I am for not getting the promised $50 back on a espresso machine I bought there back in December 2007. I know it's not them but when I buy something on a store I don't want false promises.
