Hi guys,

any suggestion where should I start looking first, to fix slow channels changing?

- everything worked pretty OK on Vista 32 bit but the CPU fan was really noisy

- got a second hand PC with a much quieter CPU fan and used the mobo + 4G ram for the HTPC

- the second hand PCX came with a Win 7 64-bit licence, this is what I am using.

- HTPC now very quiet but not running OK, most problems revolve around Haupauge remote ( I have WinTV-NOVA -T-500). It appears this card is not compatible with 64-bit systems?

I have installed / uninstalled everything I could find on the internet since Monday, I am not doing anything else after work every day, just staring in the screen, trying one more trick, etc... maybe this is the one... but nothing works. I am talking about channel changing times in the order of 20-30 sec.

It looks like there is truth in saying T-500 does not work with a 64-bit system, as I tried a lot of stuff (use IR.exe, not use IR.exe, disable IPv6, play with ZAP delay in GUI settings menu).

Where would you look anymore? Do I need to go back to Vista 32-bit only to fix this issue?

I guess I can use the Win 7 Home Premium licence key for the 64-bit with a 32-bit version as well, correct?

MediaPortal's log files would tell you how long each part of the channel changing process is taking. Therefore that would be the place to look. If you're not able to understand/interpret the log files, attach them (or upload them somewhere and provide a link) so that other people can interpret them for you.

Given that Hauppauge provide both 32 bit and 64 bit drivers for your tuner, I think it's likely that your tuner can work on 64 bit systems. Whether channel changing is slower on a 64 bit system seems unlikely to me. In any case, that can't be checked or proven without comparing log files from 32 and 64 bit systems.
