Hi all,

so my Epson TW5200  died and I need to look for another projector.

I am thinking of ordering the Sony VPL-HW40ES, from the US.

Any reason why it would not be a good idea? I think the warranty is global, correct?

Anything recommended over the Sony?

Cheers!

e.

I had a Mitsubishi which was amazing, but when I went to the Sony HW50ES I was utterly blown away. I would buy a Sony again tomorrow.

I suspect you'd have problems with warranty on a projector sourced out of country. Plus shipping, GST on import, how much cheaper would it actually be?

CGA offers a lot of protection.

Thank you for reply.

I can find the HW40 for US$1600 and I cannot find in NZ. Only one I could find here is the HW45 and it is NZ$4000.

The reason you can't find it here, it's been replaced. the 45 is the current model.

One reason to buy locally. I had an issue with my bulb about half way through it's life. I had a brand new bulb free of charge within 2 days.
