Okay so I tried to play one of a good 60 or so shows we had stored up and.... nothing.

I've had a look around but don't seem to be able to find an answer or even better a solution (other than transcoding), so thought I'd ask those more wise than myself.

Any thoughts?

If the media you are trying to playback is copy-protected then it won't play back on anything apart from the mce machine it was recorded on. Mediaportal uses dvrms wrapper as default in its TV recordings, so I don't think its a mediaportal problem.

Basically my main HTPC was WinMCE, and the DVR-MS files are just regular free to air TV programmes.  I have installed MediaPortal onto the same machine.

I was under the impression that WinMCE when recording TVdid not apply copy protection
