Hi all,

I've made a basic addon with live official streams of most of the Australian FTA channels.

This addon will let you choose the whatever region/city you like. Very similar to the old JONC MX addon which is now full of dead links and seems to have gone MIA.

Keep in mind most channels are geoblocked and require a VPN (or DNS).

Repository containing addon here.

https://github.com/kjb85/repository.kjb/blob/master/_/repository.kjb/repository.kjb-0.0.1.zip?raw=true

Cheers

response = urllib2.urlopen('http://goo.gl/EbXmbT')
for lines in response:
   print lines

'http://goo.gl/EbXmbT' returns "f** off code theif"

Can't even spell thief - amazing!

So, all your urls using lines+url are broken.

Don't know why your even calling that URL (probably copied someones add-on).

Remove that code, and also the "response.close()" from bottom of file

Then just add

lines = "https://"

Or remove all your url=lines+url code and just change to url=url
Then add "https://" to all the actual urls.

Here is a fixed version of the add-on.
I also removed the need for a VPN (by using X-Forwarded-For={Australian IP Address})

The old addon was dead and no longer maintained. Anyway I've updated it to call on a new link. Missed that part. So much for open source.
Will add x forwarded tonight.

Ps. Love your work on the rpi builds :)

Thanks :)

Might use this add-on as my partner has just moved back from Melbourne and she will be keen to watch her MKR live (think that's on 7 over there)

I'm an aussie over here so love the ability of being able to watch the streams.

Mkr is in its last week!

Here are a few more streams you could consider adding:

And am I correct in thinking your using the goo.gl at start of script for analytics?

The addon originally had that code in it, I continued to use it for that purpose when I forked it, I will probably remove it regardless as it seems to be more trouble than its worth and may cause problems having it call to github everytime.

I forked it as all links had changed for seven and it was no longer available for download.

I will look at adding a few of those streams although I have a feeling the content between say Cairns & Brisbane is exactly the same.

I'll check it out tonight.

Plus, having the url call will slow the add-on down on every open :)
Especially due to no other network calls required on initial listing.
It could be the difference between 10ms listing time vs 1000ms with the network call.

Sure, 1 second isn't much - but it's still 100x the amount of time.
And some users might not like the idea of being tracked.

You might be able to use some of the icons he is using.
I find serving content from github can be pretty slow sometimes (fair enough as it's not built for static content).

The icons are on my own repository so I'm not too fussed. Kodi saves them locally so atleast so they're not loading each time the addon is launched.

I'll kill off the call to goo.gl tonight. :)

I will try this one out tonight. Its nice to be able to have live Aussie TV, but with ABC iView, Plus 7, Ten Play etc I doubt I will be using it very much.

By the way, does anybody know what happened to the live NZ TV addon? The addon I had for that seems to be broken. It would be really nice to have a single Aussie/NZ Live TV addon.

@Wiggum

That live NZ add-on (by Team-x or something) was using some streams from a website that finally caught on and locked down it's streams.

Here is it if you wanted to try for other streams:
http://teamx.comxa.com/addons/plugin.video.freeviewnz/plugin.video.freeviewnz-2.0.0.zip

You can see the streams it uses here (Note: No Ch1 or Ch2):

I believe people were using the NZ addon on Android boxes and trying to make profit from them (Not 100% sure).

I too was using it as we don't have a Freeview box.

Edit: Looks like mattrix is in the know xD

I've updated the addon in the repo with the xforwarding. Thank you!

Also chucked a couple of NZ streams down the bottom which should forward without being geoblocked also.
