Hi all,
Anyone else seeing pauses / dropped frames / skipping with DVB-S broadcasts?
I've got an HVR-3000 set up to record DVB-S broadcasts throught GBPVR. When I play them back I get sections where the video lags or stops for a short time. This lasts for around half a second, but sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. After the problem, it starts playing the video again, and I've just missed half a second of the action. The audio never drops out, it's always in tune and on time.
I've replayed captures several times and the problem always happens at the same places, which points to a capture problem rather than a playback problem. Task manager generally sits around 75% when playing back content (it's an old P4-based Celeron CPU and GeForce4 vid card, so that's to be expected). When the content lags/drops/skips, the CPU goes down to around 20%, which indicates the CPU doesn't have any frames to process. Half a second later the frames are back, and the CPU usge goes back up.
The system isn't generally busy when recording - it may be playing back an MP3 or whatever - and the disk isn't busy either by the looks of task manager. Hauppauge drivers etc are all up to date, from the 4.2 CD, so I'm really asking whether this is a capture problem, or whether it's a source problem - eg the signal from the satellite is just crummy, in which case I'd expect others to see the same thing.
Cheers
Buzzy
