Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, have tried researching via other threads here and in mediaportal forum.

Have been using NextPVR for a while who's EPG updates fine "over the air". Decided to try MediaPortal ... first MediaPortal2 and then now MediaPortal1 but have an issue on both with the EPG. Essentially, while I get some program descriptions in English, for the most part all titles and the remaining descriptions are all in special characters.

Pretty standard setup, haven't done anything particularly special in terms of settings. Have tried it both with English selected as the language and no language selected. Have tried refreshing the EPG several times but still the same result. 

What am I missing to get it working simply over the air? Or do I need to all back to using the XML tv guide setup?
