I have been given a vintage turntable for Christmas (thanks, Santa!) which has a built in amp.
I’m now on the hunt for some good bookshelf speakers to go with this. I’m not too well versed in in this space so looking for some recommendations from the knowledgeable crew here.

I would prefer these to be under $300, and I’m just as conscious of aesthetics as I am performance. I see HN have the Klipsch R-15M for $298 and the Polk S15 for a bit less, but more than happy for any input on these or others I should consider.

I'm assuming the amplification built into the turntable won't be HUGE... a few watts, maybe 10 watts?

In which case, I'd go with a highly efficient speaker like a Klipsch. The forward presentation of their sound may match nicely with the reserved sound you often get from vintage turntables. Of course, typing about speakers is like dancing about architecture, so yeah...

It says “maximum consumption 40watts” on the back. Thanks for your input, currently leaning towards the Klipsch anyway

max consumption doesn't mean much in terms of out power of the speakers

maybe post the model number

It’s an old Murphy turntable, sorry don’t know the model. Ive has it set up with old floor speakers to see and hear it going (it worked and sounded beautiful) but the floor speakers are far to big for the space it will end up going in
