The Samsung store in New Zealand is limited and doesn't allow me to install apps such as Emby. I've read a few guides online, but the instructions never match to our TV.

Thanks for the reply. But again, none of those guides match our TV.


Here is the NZ Samsung website. Ours is Series 5.

As far as I know and the way I did it was to factory reset TV and during setup selected my desired region.


Done on a KS8000 and a KU6000

Personally I’d wouldn’t recommend to use the telly’s apps, but to use a dedicated streaming device like an Apple TV or an NUC.

Try this:



  1. Choose TV as source.
  2. Select Menu on the remote control.
  3. Select System.
  4. Choose Setup.
  5. Continue the set up.
  6. When you get to the Smart Hub Terms & Conditions page, press the following buttons on your remote control: Mute, Volume Up, Channel Up, Mute. OR
  7. forward, 2, 8, 9, rewind
  8. Choose your new Samsung Smart TV region.
  9. Continue the setup as usual.


Sometimes the speed that you press the buttons can affect your result. Try doing the button press sequence faster or slower.


I recommend choosing the UK region as the British apps are great. You just need a geo-unblocking service like DNS4ME for it to work.
