Hey,

I've been playing with the HD TV3 broadcaats recorded using GBPVR. I have noticed that it is showing 2 audio streams, as indicated by an earlier post in the forum. However the popcorn hour seems (well, with my recording) seems to think the second stream is DTS.

Anyone else seeing this? (or are TV3 just playing around)
This happens when I play through the PCH GBPVR client, and via a SMB share on the PCH.

Thanks

Yeah, I didn't think they would be transmitting in DTS, but that is what my PCH is picking the second audio stream as (which when I try to putout to my receiver via spdif, does not appear as AC3 or DTS)

Maybe the stream I am recording is a little corrupted.

But since the popcorn doesn't handle the AAC, maybe it's just getting confused and doesn't know what to call it...

It does handle AAC as it's there in the audio list but not the version that we use here for freeview HD..

It's not the AAC stream I am looking at.
When playing my TV3 recordings currently, I get audio 1/2 and it has no name - this is the AAC, and has always been identified as no name.
When I hit the audio button on the remote, it changes to audio 2/2 - DTS but makes no sound still.

Guess it's misreading the stream headers or something. I'll try demuxing the file and see if I can identify the audio stream, and try to play as AC3.

Cheers

Well, I kind of fixed this.

I hadn't scanned / mapped the channels again in GBPVR, and when I did a new channel appeared, as TV3 (AC3) - set that as my TV3 and fired it up on the PH.

The audio still shows 2 streams, one as nothing, and one as DTS - but it plays sound now. I'll have to test with SPDIF & the received to see if it's actually outputting digital AC3.

Thanks

Would be interested to know the result since I have a PCH and use gbpvr. I am also about to get a HVR-900 so I can record the DVB-T broadcasts but I would only record TV3 (can't see any point in recording upscaled video on the TVNZ channels) and hopefully playback on the PCH using smb.

Yeah, looks (and sounds) great - watching bones recording at the moment

Not so hot for currently recording programs - but that could be due to signal issues as I got some skips in the file too - so moving around the file is a pain (maybe thats the PCH treatment of TS)

Thanks. Just got my HVR-900H and got it installed in gbpvr. The epg is a bit screwed up but I can record TV3 fine. Not playable at all on my PC which is just a Sempron 64 3000 but the PCH plays the files fine. And it seems that there are two audio tracks - the AAC which the PCH cannot play and a AC-3 track (which the PCH says is DTS!) which is audible. Currently testing true HD on CSI NY tonight
