just a quick question have a wharfdale power cube sub just using a standard red black rca  cable...is this ok..or should i buy a proper sub cable any diff in sound quality or only diff is the shielding..?

I would go with the Standard or maybe gold plated if they aren't (just for long term contact stability).

i have tried both proper spec sub cable on a good sub and when I was poorer the rca cable on a wharfdale diamond sub and have not noticed any difference. but that's just my experience.

Use telephone cable from the 50's bet you will hear zero difference

You won't hear a difference, you won't fix AC hum... but if you are running a long'ish cable past a lot of electronics you may not get any interference if you've been suffering from that.
