I have a Hauppauge video recorder recording Freeview terrestrial on a Windows 10 HTPC.

Most channels are fine, but when playing back video from Prime in Plex, the video is skewed/distorted, as if the sides of the screen are being stretched out but otherwise good quality. The same video file plays correctly in VLC.

Any ideas?

what type of plex client are you playing it on? is it android based?

Client is Plex Home Theater, running on the Windows 10 HTPC.

PHT is dead a long time ago and extremely outdated codec, getting anything to do with this fixed is going to be a waste of time

OpenPHT is more up to date but not 4k ready and its been a year since the last update - i also wouldnt bother

try it in Plex Media Player 2.6 for Windows - its good for everything apart from HDR

Thanks so much.

When PHT stopped being developed I looked at Plex Media Server but didn't see the 10-foot mode and moved to OpenPHT. Ended up getting annoyed with OpenPHT's behaviour, and PHT seemed ok again.

Now that I've found the 10-foot mode on Plex Media Player, Prime works well. I just have to get the family used to the new interface.

Ok, the new Plex Media Player is very nice, but I now have problems with audio: There are little breaks in the audio every 10-30s.

The same video files played through VLC are perfect.

I've tried a number of settings that could be the cause, but no obvious effect.

Anyone know anything simple?

is your sound output over HDMI?

is it going through a receiver?

running latest video / audio drivers?

Setup has been HDMI from HTPC to TV, then Coax digital back from the TV to the amp. This was to try to avoid lip-sync issues we were having, but could have been limitations in the previous software.

Now I've tried Windows HTPC direct to the amp via optical digital, with the video going to the TV on HDMI. This seems to have the same problem, which takes the TV out of the equation. Still strange that VLC works fine with this setup, while Plex Media Player seems to have the odd break in audio still.
