Hi all,

I am looking at upgrading up home theatre in a box to something a little bit more respectible.

There are a few specials at the moment on Yamaha RX-V861 and Pioneer VSX-917V?

Anyone have any experience with these?  any gotchas?

I see that there is a newer version of the Yamaha the RX-V863 which has HDMI 1.3, and an extra HDMI input.   Is there any other compelling reasons to look at this one over the RX-V861? (which is half the price...)

Can anyone recommend any decent websites that have good reviews for HT equipment?

Thanks

Mike

A further question - I note that my existing Sony Home Theatre in a box has 5x 3ohm impedance speakers.   I was hoping to use these on one of the Yamaha set ups.

I also note from the Yamaha user manual that it supports 4ohms for the front and 6ohms from the back speakers.

So, silly question here, but would using 3ohm speakers strain the amp?
