I was surprised to see a Series 6 LCD advertised in some Junk Ma... a flyer from Newbolds last night (the 46" LA46A650), as I'd been searching online for them earlier that day and found nothing in NZ.

These sets have gotten some good reviews, although as seems to be the norm the model number is different in other parts of the world.  I'm assuming/hoping the NZ LA46A650 = the UK LE46A656.  The specs seem to match up anyway.

Has anyone seen any others around? I'm more interesting in the 40" model, have emailed Samsung NZ & Newbolds but don't know when to expect a reply.

Cheers.

its listed on the oz site as "built in HD Tuner: Yes" but we all know that their standards are different to ours.

I would have expected a different model number for nz as we have hte different dvb-t system...

Hi

There was a display of Samsung LCD's at the Albany Shopping Center yesterday

Were about 4 Series 6, a Series 5, Series 4 and a Plasma

The Series 6 looked real good

Went along to JB HiFi and they has a 36 and 52 inch series 6 on display

Price for the 46 inch was $3999 and the 52 inch $5990. Think that the Samsung RRP for the 52 inch is actually $4999 so they may be asking a bit much for the 52 inch

No built in Freeview HD Tuner. Told that this may be in the Series 7 (later this year or early next)

AVS Forums give good reports and CNET give this better review than the new Sony W series.

Only real negative that is given is the red ting on the surround but ut is very slight and actually looks quite smart.

Trying to decide on either the 46 or 52 inch

Well I bit the bullet and got a 40inch Series 6... Very cool !

Size of the room and budget made it a 40 instead of a 46.

Picture quality is awesome, and recommended purchase.  Plays PS3 like a dream !!

The red tinge isn't really that noticable, and I think is great rather than the traditional black shiny finish.

No tuner :( but aint the end of the world...

Order MySky Hidef, but won't be installed til Aug 26th... Looking at the picture, I'm not sure if the Sky upgrade is worth it...  Might save my money and spend it on blu-ray movies I actually want to watch... So might cancel that install.

Anyway, for sale, one 32 inch CRT... that will probably be as much use as a fish bowl, than a telly... LOL...

I was all set today to purchase the Samsung 40" LCD 6 Series as my first HDTV. Until I seen the Panasonic 42" Plasma TH-42PY800. I came home with nothing... due to more confusion with the latest technology's. The Panasonic clearly beat every HDTV I viewed for picture quality and specs I just want a second opinion. I'm sleeping on it over night. I have started a thread here above asking for your help on this model. Thanks guys.

Regards
Baz
