hi

I have a sony 55" HD lcd tv.

it has developed a horizontal line across the middle of the screen, with the half below the line, moving slightly up and down.

there is no sign of any damage to the screen, and it was fine last night.

does anybody know what has happened ?

Have you properly rebooted the telly.

could try a factory reset too, if there's a menu option.

U might be looking at a panel driver failure.

is the line a single pixel wide?

Could be a fault in the TV (Like a board) or a loose contact on a connector.

If its under warranty or you think the CGA applies, then take it back etc.

If you think its well beyond the CGA you could have a look at it yourself.

Best to just plug "sony LCD stripe" into youtube and have a look if you find something that looks worth trying.

EDIT:I actually managed to fix my elderly Panasonic plasma a while back by working out the cooling fans had clogged up with dust (Plasmas often had fans).

Mr youtube gave me a marvellous tutorial on fixing/cleaning it inside and it all worked out fine.
