Noel Leeming links below

7500F

8500F

I'm wondering if the X1 picture processor in the 8500F below is worth the $1000 price difference currently?

I'll be feeding the TV mostly 1080p or below at this stage.

Are either of these TV's actually any good?

Currently have a 50" Samsung Plasma.

Cheers

Ok apparently not. 7500 is direct lit while 8500 is edge lit.

Whatever that means in terms of panel performance.

Personally I wouldn't opt for either - if you were going to spend $3k on the 8500F the 9000F is only a couple of hundred more and isn't edge lit. I can't stand anything more than an edge lit panel.

I'm not personally that worried about the TV. I can leave the plasma on the wall until it blows up, but my wife is pretty keen for something bigger for sports & gaming. I wasn't that keen on the $3k one, but the $2k seemed like an ok deal.

I know so little on TV technology, direct lighting on the 7500F will provide a better overall image from what I;ve read.

Am I right in thinking that the picture processor is involved in the up scaling of my 1080 / 720 content to the 4k panel,or is that the Clarity processor?

I won't worry about the processor that is scaling, they all do an amazing job. But sorry that's not answering your question.

ANd yeah that's why I said I don't know what direct vs edge means for panel performance.

All I know is that OLED is the best, and full array backlight with local dimming is the better of the LED backlights.

I have a $1400 TCL TV and the picture is amazing when it's not too bright outside.
